Olympics Outreach Update!

This past August, we took a team to join 500 missionaries in a massive city-wide outreach in Paris during the Summer Olympics. This outreach, Paris Je T’aime, operated 204 evangelistic, open-air outreaches. We reached people from many nations in one city!

Using creative storytelling to connect with peoples lives, cultural dancing, fun music and one-on-one conversations 3,729 people were shown how God loves them and desires personal relationship with them.

Mark 16:18 says, “They will be able to place their hands on the sick, and they will be healed.” This happened all over Paris as young people with great faith prayed for the sick and saw their health restored.

Did you know that 80% of the people of France have never owned or even read a Bible? One goal of our outreach was to help end Bible poverty by distributing Bibles in many languages. We were delighted to see how many Muslims were open to receiving scripture. We even had QR code keychains so that people could download a Bible to their phone in 100 languages!

I had a long conversation with this woman and her nephew (identities hidden for security purposes) and they were happy to receive Bibles for their phones. Arabic and French were the main languages of the Bibles we gave away for free.

We believe in the power of prayer! After getting to know people on the streets, many were open to receiving prayer. We prayed for each person’s personal needs and for them to be touched by God’s love.

We brought a reggae band to perform original songs all over the city! Hundreds came to listen and each time we played, one of our team or another YWAMer shared the story of Jesus or a testimony about how God changed our lives. Our band also played worship multiple times in the 24/7 prayer room and led intercession/prayer for all of the outreaches happening that week.

So many people gave their lives to Jesus during the three weeks of outreach! In fact, 182 people were locals who we referred to a church in their neighborhood. This photo is of a woman (middle) that our 17-year-old team member Abby from NJ (left) and our friend led to the Lord by using her Google Translate app to share the gospel in Turkish and Ukrainian. Her son is serving in the Ukrainian army during the war. The women wept as she prayed to receive Jesus.
